Who Am I To Judge?

pope-francisThe Catholic Church has seemingly turned on a dime regarding homosexuality with a casual comment by the new Pontiff. Pope Benedict had signed off on a church document that referred to “homosexual inclinations” as “disordered.” On a plane full of reporters headed to Rio de Janeiro for World Youth Day, Pope Francis answered a question about gays with, “If they accept the Lord and have goodwill, who am I to judge them?”

Sodom and GomorraBenedict had taken the church back to the days of Sodom and Gomorrah as if homosexuality is a choice. His German heritage always seemed Hitler like, but I suppose someone had to take the fall following the saint the church canonized. That is why I am not a fan of religions, because they begin inherently flawed being man made and change direction like the wind depending on who is at the helm.

Going back to the twin cities a second, man was no different than today and I am certain homosexuals flocked to Sodom and Gomorrah for the simple reason of acceptance. I am pleased to see Pope Francis portray a more inclusive church; maybe he will get serious about the child molesters and allow priests to marry so they have a clue what the burdens of their parishioners are like.

flat earthWho am I to judge? What a refreshing perspective! It appears the growing trend is to make uneducated judgments spontaneously. Fact is irrelevant and because it has always been makes it so. Can you imagine the excitement of the first brave mariners possessing the courage to sail towards the edge of the world and discover the horizon kept extending? With the learning curve exponentially decreasing I predict man will soon look back with newly acquired knowledge on our beliefs of today and think of them as foolish as a flat earth. Thanks for reading. Have a great day! dj
